About
Funny what a dream and drive will bring...“Stay far from timid, only make moves when your hearts in it, and live the phrase sky's the limit.” -Biggie Smalls
Brooklyn Sky clothing line originated in 2005 in a small dorm room in Miami. Brooklyn Sky was created as a brand relevant to the city lifestyle. Brooklyn born designer Michael Nicholas' goal was to contribute to the hip hop culture as well as giving back to his community. Mr. Nicholas and his childhood friend, now business partner Matthew Jones came up with their first design, the Paper Chaser tee. Nicholas found himself being a full time college student all while pitching the slogan tees to all urban boutiques. Vinnies Styles in Brooklyn and Shoe Gallery in Downtown Miami were two of many that picked up and still carry the brand to this day.
The two now found that their clothing line had such a buzz, it was only right to take it to the masses. The first Magic trade-show in Vegas was such a success, their clothing was now sold in over 30 stores; MIA Skateshop, Leaders, Arrive Miami, Avenue, and East 4th Skate Shop to name a few. With Brooklyn Sky tees having great quality, real street messages, and eye catching graphics the streets were talking, and the feedback was great! Matt and Michael decided to open a shop in 2006 right in their own neighborhood to both signify themselves as a street-wear brand, and most importantly fulfill that goal of bringing it home. To their surprise at the ages of 22 and 24 they were the youngest merchants in their neighborhood. After scaling back to just retail, the brand Brooklyn Sky is still smoking. In 2009 Brooklyn Sky has sold over 15,000 units to date from their humble 350 sq. ft space in Flatbush, Brooklyn. As of 2010 they added 3 new members to the team. Big Junes, Pantha and Cash to help take the Brooklyn Sky dream to higher heights. Thanks to the addition you can catch Brooklyn Sky on the backs of everyday people and celebrities. The Brand has been accepted by some of Hip Hop's elite; Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Fabolous and Juelz Santana to name a few.
